Why digital forensics is becoming very challenging
1) Increasingly distributed systems in multiple jurisdictions
2) Big data management
3) Lack of forensic infrastructure in a cloud computing environment.
Despite of these obstacles, all automated inquiries are becoming time-consuming, making the solutions costlier.
Cloud computing is capable of handling these challenges, but it lacks an architectural level support for forensic analysis that can meet all the legal requirements. Cloud service providers cannot provide solutions to these challenges by offering forensics tools on Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.
We are proposing a Forensics-as-a-Service (FaaS) multi-tier cloud architecture capable of addressing the above problems and adding additional forensic support at the infrastructure level from cloud providers. We will also address the overall investigation process's increase in time and cost-efficiency.
